Eva Mendes: This beauty treatment shocks her fans

Actress Eva Mendes shared a photo of a beauty procedure on Instagram to tighten her neck and chin.

Since her first major film role in "Training Day" 19 years ago, Eva Mendes (46) hardly seems to have aged. However, her appearance is apparently not completely natural, as the actress shows on Instagram with a shocking photo: She also helps with beauty treatments.

The mother of two shared the photo from a Beverly Hills beauty facility that a friend of hers opened. Mendes underwent "Mono-Threads", in English "Mono threads", which is supposed to tighten her neck and chin. To do this, seven needles were stuck into the underside of her jaw. "This is my contact point for everything that has to do with beauty," writes Ryan Gosling's partner (40). "It's my place of well-being." Feeling good looks different, say some fans and even compare the actress in the comments with the character Pinhead from the horror series "Hellraiser".

Monofilaments: what's behind the treatment?

The facility belongs to Dr. Mariana Vergara Hofstetter. She is a cousin of the actress Sofía Vergara (48, "Modern Family"), and explains that "Monofilaments activate the collagen synthesis, which causes a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect." This can counteract the slackening of the cheeks, neck and jaw.

The needles might look like acupuncture needles, but they have a different purpose: Above all, acupuncture helps to alleviate ailments associated with illnesses or other conditions. The monofilaments, on the other hand, would stimulate collagen. The beauty expert also explains that the treatment is not a lifting, but a preventive neck lift.
