Since last December, Eve Gilles is the new Miss France. The former beauty queen from Nord-Pas-de-Calais therefore continues interviews and, on January 17, the 20-year-old young woman answered questions from DailyMail. In English, she spoke about her career, her studies in mathematics and, of course, the many criticism she received because of her short haircut or his body deemed androgynous. Our British colleagues thus tried to find out how she came to shorten her pretty brown hair.
Ève Gilles therefore explained that everything was born following a sudden decision, during adolescence. It all started with a comment from his mother, reproaching him for finding, again, long hair belonging to him on the sofa. “Mom told me to stop [d’en répandre partout, NDLR]as a joke, because she was so tired of seeing my hair everywhere”, declared Miss France 2024 with amusement, indicating that she had found a solution, at 17 years old, to no longer have to receive these kinds of comments. When she told him she planned to cut them off, her mother backed down. “No, I didn’t think so,” she told him, but the beauty queen was definitely planning to take it to the next level. “The next morning I called the hairdresser, and three days later there was nothing,” said Ève Gilles, who proves her unfailing determination. “My father was not not very happy”, she detailed, recognizing that her “mother neither, even if they quickly accepted” her new haircut stopping at ear level and featuring voluminous bangs.

A Miss ready to break the codes to change mentalities
It must be said that before trusting her hairdresser, the young woman had a hairline length reaching her buttocks. As for the derogatory remarks to which she was the subject on social networks from multiple Internet users, Ève Gilles did not really expect it. “It obviously shocked me because there are a lot of women with short hair, so in a way I didn’t really understand the whole controversy. I had never really cared that much about my hair, so it was strange. It’s always like that”she blurted out to the DailyMail. With hindsight, Miss France 2024 prefers to use it as a weapon, to push people to evolve and to realize that women should not be “clones” each other : “I think it’s a message of hope for people to know that there are different images of beauty.”
