He’s gone…but somehow his bugs survive him. Despite scrapping Internet ExplorerMicrosoft continues to fix bugs related to its old Navigator.

Having become more and more discreet in the Microsoft ecosystem since 2015 and the introduction of Edge, Internet Explorer was only permanently withdrawn from active service on June 15. The browser had then served nearly three decades on the various Microsoft OS, its latest version (IE 11) having been introduced at the end of 2013 with Windows 8.1.

Today, Microsoft makes it possible to use Internet Explorer tabs in its Edge browser to make it easier to switch from one browser to another… Only then, this feature has recently been a problem.

Internet Explorer tabs are a problem for Edge

As reported Neowin, the latest build of Windows 11 (KB5014019) introduced a bug that caused Internet Explorer tabs opened in Edge to crash in some specific cases. Bad news for those who had just started their transition between the two browsers.

After installing KB5014019 and later updates, IE mode tabs in Microsoft Edge may become unresponsive when a site displays a modal dialog. A modal dialog is a form or dialog that requires the user to respond before proceeding or interacting with other parts of the web page or application Microsoft explained in a press release.

Microsoft is already on the move…

According to Microsoft, this bug affected users of Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, and Windows Server 2022. It is now largely fixed through the ” Known Issue Rollback » used by the firm to cancel an update carrying identified bugs and thus undo them very quickly.

The users concerned therefore have nothing to do in particular, the correction being automatically managed by Microsoft. That said, if you are concerned and the bug has not yet been fixed for you, it is simply advisable to restart your machine so that the Rollback can be done faster.
