Everton-Newcastle: an environmental activist invites himself on the lawn and attaches himself to a pole

An incredible scene. A man entered the lawn at Goodison Park during the Everton-Newscastle game on Thursday night and clung to a post before being dislodged by stewards.

While everything had gone well in the first period, the game suffered a few minutes of disruption after the start of the second period. For good reason, a young activist has appeared to defend the environment.

The 21-year-old intruder, named Louis, headed for goal before hanging his head off the right post with a plastic tie. He was released by the stewards.

The claimed action

The action was quickly claimed by the organization “Just Stop Oil”. It aims to draw the UK government’s attention to the climate crisis and demands an end to oil consumption.

“It’s 2022 and it’s time to look up, it’s time to act and not sit idly by. It’s time to act like it’s an emergency,” the organization tweeted.

“New oil means the destruction of our children’s future. It means war against small island states. And that means suffering now for the poorest and most marginalized in all regions,” she added.

Note that the same incident occurred on Wednesday during the Arsenal-Liverpool match.
