Purdy lets 49ers march, Giants go down again

The San Francisco 49ers cemented their playoff ambitions this NFL season with a comfortable win against the New York Giants. No other team in the National Football League can keep up. It was the second loss of the season for the Giants, who had to play without star running back Saquon Barkley, who had an ankle injury. “We have a lot of experience on offense and everyone has done their job,” Purdy said on Amazon Prime. The young quarterback, who was only number three for the 49ers last season and only made his NFL debut because of injuries to his colleagues, had a somewhat slow start but was still in control of the game at all times. He finished the night with 310 passing yards and two touchdown passes.
Purdy himself doesn’t fall into the category of having a lot of experience in attack, which makes his achievements all the more impressive. In 2022, the San Francisco 49ers selected Purdy as the 262nd and last player in the draft, and the quarterback was honored as “Mr. Irrelevant” of his draft year. But then the young man writes a “Cinderella” story: Due to injuries, Purdy suddenly became the starting quarterback in the second half of the season and thus the successor to playmaking legends like Joe Montana and Steve Young.
And Purdy delivered: He led the 49ers to the conference finals and who knows what would have been possible there had he not been injured early in the game. After three wins from the first three games of the season, Purdy’s impressive record as an NFL professional is now ten wins in eleven games.
In addition to running back Christian McCaffrey, who had a touchdown, pass receiver Deebo Samuel also had a very good evening.
