Unsurprisingly, the National Assembly on Monday rejected a 17th motion of censure concerning the pension reform. But the future of Elisabeth Borne at Matignon remains uncertain. The possibility of a reshuffle, even before the end of the 100 days set by Emmanuel Macron, is becoming clearer.

This is the little music of the moment behind the scenes of power: the possibility of a government reshuffle in the coming weeks is becoming clearer. Rumors are rife about potential departures and arrivals. One certainty, everything should be decided by the beginning of July.

“Reshuffle in the next 15 days”

The time for the summer holidays has not yet come, but many ministers are already wondering about the start of the school year, because by then there should be change. “Reshuffle in the next 15 days”, slips an adviser. “The window of opportunity is between June 19 and July 10,” a close friend of the head of state believes.

It must be said that this period could indeed be suitable. Emmanuel Macron’s agenda does not include any major international meeting far from the capital during these three weeks. So feeling threatened, some members of the government no longer hesitate to reverse the roles: “Do you have any information?” Press this minister by SMS to journalists. Others are working to prepare the sequel. Like this Secretary of State who is probing a private company to find out if there might not be a place for it in the coming months.

Julien Denormandie back in government?

“Everyone is on the hot seat,” says an adviser. There remains the question of whether or not to maintain Elisabeth Borne at Matignon. Behind the scenes, the name of the former Minister of Agriculture Julien Denormandie comes up insistently. An option which is notably pushed by the secretary general of the Élysée Alexis Kohler, whose opinion often proves decisive with the head of state.
