The third season of The Mandalorian arrives in 2023. A first teaser has been released by Disney.
When is season 3 coming out? The Mandalorian ?
After a first season in 2019, then a second in 2020, logic would have dictated that the third season of The Mandalorian arrives in 2021. This was also the original plan, when Disney confirmed this schedule during a conference in mid-December 2020. But with the coronavirus pandemic, this deadline could no longer be met.
Today, a new schedule has been set: the sequel to the adventures of Din Djarin will be screened on Disney+ from February 2023. The date was revealed on May 26 on Twitter by the official license account. It is still relevant: the broadcast of the first teaser of the series still indicates a release in 2023.

What characters for season 3 of The Mandalorian ?
The teaser of the season gives a small overview of the characters that we will meet again. The Mandalorian, of course, but also Grogu, who eventually returned to his protector’s side. A few members linked to Mandalore are also still there: the intrepid Bo-Katan Kryze, who occupies a notable place in the saga, and the mysterious armorer.
Among the others, we obviously find Carl Weathers as Greef Karga and Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto. Less sure will be the presence of Ming-Na (Fennec Shand), Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano), Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett) or even Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker). Ditto for Gina Carano (Cara Dune) because of positions taken.
What does the new season of The Mandalorian ?
Some narrative arcs developed with seasons one and two were able to be closed with the last episodes broadcast in 2020. But the main issues remain: can we bring Grogu back to his people? And where are they? What becomes of Din Djarin now that he has been excommunicated? And what about Mandalore? What are Bo-Katan’s intentions?
In particular, we can guess a frank opposition to come between Bo-Katan and Din Djarin because of the ownership of the dark saber, a real relic in the culture of Mandalore. Whoever possesses the weapon becomes the ruler of the planet. The weapon belonged to moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), but Din Djarin got it back in a fight. And that’s none of Bo-Katan’s business.
More generally, it should be remembered that the history of the The Mandalorian takes place between Episodes VI and VII of Star Wars, the emergence of the First Order — which is a military organization born from the ashes of the Empire. She is the main threat at the time. She appears in the third trilogy of the saga with Rey, Finn and Poe Demeron.
Will there be a season 4 in The Mandalorian ?
It is planned and it was Jon Favreau who confirmed the news in May 2022. He has been the screenwriter and showrunner of The Mandalorian, a project he has been working on since at least 2018 – Disney and Lucasfilm, however, had the idea of making live action series for a long time before. Season 4 would probably arrive in 2024 or 2025.
This new season could accentuate even more the idea of crossovers on the SVOD site – which we have already seen in particular with season two and The Book of Bob Fett. Among the projects that Disney plans for Star Warswe know that at least two series lend themselves to this kind of exercise: Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic. They take place at the same time.
