How many episodes?

Series Marvel’s Echo is composed of only 5 episodes. It is presented by Disney+ as a mini-series. The episodes will last around 50 minutes each.

Marvel’s Echo Trailer

The trailer for Marvel’s Echo was put online in November 2023. The tone confirms that the series is significantly darker and brutal than previous MCU productions. Quite close, finally, to fire Daredevilthe Netflix series.

Who is Echo?

The first time we saw Maya Lopez aka Echo in the MCU dates back to the series Hawkeye, broadcast at Christmas in 2021. The character has the particularity of being deaf; and therefore to express oneself in sign language. She is also Native American (Chacta). In Hawkeye, she acted as an antagonist at first, since the Kingpin, or Wilson Fisk, was her mentor — she ran the mafia for him. But she ended up understanding that he lied to her, particularly about his origins, and she turned against him.

The eponymous series is located just after Hawkeye, with Maya’s return to her hometown as the starting point. Now that she is no longer attached to Wilson Fisk, this past will catch up with her. The director of several episodes of the series, Sydney Freeland, describes the character as ” full of rage “. The narration will also be “ on an urban scale “, without ” cosmic implications “, she specifies.

Marvel Spotlight

The Marvel’s Echo series is the first to belong to the new Marvel Spotlight label. This label is intended to bring together Marvel productions “independent” of the MCU. These are characters included in the MCU, but whose story thus told is unrelated to the grand shared narrative. So, Marvel’s Echo will not advance the plot of the MCU until the next Avengers, for example, focusing mainly on Echo’s redemption arc.

In itself, we understand that Marvel also and above all seeks to revive enthusiasm around its productions. The MCU itself, as a shared universe, has run out of steam enormously: Quantumania was a flop, The Marvels did not generate a crowd of cinema entries (even if that is a bit of a shame), and the character Kang will potentially be abandoned.

Echo, the cast

The series is created by Marion Dayre, who previously distinguished herself in the writing of Better Call Saul. We find, in the casting of Echo, the same actors/actresses and characters as in the series Daredevil and in the most recent Hawkeye.
