Ewan McGregor announces the start of filming on Obi-Wan Kenobi

Fans of the Star Wars universe will be delighted! Actor Ewan McGregor has confirmed that filming for his series on Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will air on the online streaming platform Disney +, will begin next March.

Star Wars fans are looking forward to this new series! The main character of the saga, the Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi, will be at the heart of this new show. However, the filming of the series has been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic. But good news for all Star Wars aficionados! The character's interpreter, Ewan McGregor, confirmed this Friday that the filming of the new series of Disney + will start in March 2021. "This is Obi-Wan Kenobi's story, I guess. It's not all (about) me. But it will definitely be a lot about me, which is cool! We're starting to shoot the movie. series in March of next year.", he said on the show The Graham Norton Show.

The actor revealed he plans to take inspiration from Alec Guinness, the former interpreter of Obi-Wan in the film Star wars from 1977. "I never intended to meet (Guinness), but I love him through his work"Ewan McGregor explained, adding that he had also watched several Alec Guinness films to prepare.

This new series focused on the character of Obi-Wan Kenobi was announced by Disney + in 2019. Filming was due to start this year but the coronavirus pandemic has put things off until later. This new show on the universe of Star wars should only includea single season of six episodes. These new adventures of the Jedi master should take place 8 years after those of the film Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, i.e. 11 years before episode IV.

This series will be directed by Deborah Chow who notably worked on The Mandalorian but also on the series American Gods, Jessica Jones or Lost in space. While no release date has yet been announced, the show may be available on Disney + from 2022.
