Ewan McGregor presented his new film in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic – and made the whole thing a family outing.

A childhood dream has come true for Ewan McGregor (52). A critically acclaimed recap of some career highlights, including the cult film Trainspotting and his Star Wars performances, at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival appeared to be a particular highlight for the actor, as reported by the US industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”.

“It’s like a dream to see,” McGregor told the audience. Ever since he was a little boy, he dreamed of becoming an actor. To see such a compilation is “what dreams are made of”. The Scotsman accepted the festival’s “President’s Award” to loud applause. This is awarded to actors, directors and producers who have made a significant contribution to the world of film with their work.

Mom was there too

McGregor had made the visit a kind of family outing. He also brought his mother Carol Diane McGregor, his daughter Clara Mathilde McGregor (27) and his partner Mary Elizabeth Winstead (38) to the annual film festival in Karlsbad, Czech Republic. The Scottish actor and his US colleague were in front of the camera together for the series “Fargo” in 2016 and have been a couple since 2017. In the summer of 2021, the two welcomed their son Laurie. According to media reports, they are said to have married in early 2022. He has four other children from a previous marriage to Eve Mavrakis (57), including Clara.

McGregor and his daughter also celebrated the international premiere of their joint film “You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder” at the festival. The world premiere of the US production took place in March at the SXSW film festival in Austin, Texas. The drama tells the story of a father and his estranged daughter. The story was co-written by Clara McGregor and is loosely based on the real life of the Hollywood star and his daughter. “It’s a complete dream,” said Clara after her father asked her on stage.

At the opening of the festival on June 30, the Swedish Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (34) had already received the award. Hollywood star Russell Crowe (59) was awarded the Crystal Globe at the start. The 57th edition of the film festival will take place until July 8th.
