Ex-BioWare Boss’s Game Looks Canon, Proof

BioWare’s veteran studio took advantage of a lackluster conference to highlight its survival game: Nightingale. A title with a pretty aesthetic that presented some of its mechanics.

Amid some big announcements, Summer Game Fest 2022 also gave voice to independent studios. Among them is Inflexion Games, the company founded by Aaryn Flynn, the former boss of BioWare who cut his teeth on Mass Effect. She came to present her first game: Nightingale.

Nightingale shows his pretty face and his mechanics

When a few BioWare veterans get together to make a new Victorian-era game, it’s Nightingale. A title with a particularly seductive aesthetic that mixes craft and survival and which has passed under the Tencent flag since its announcement at the Game Awards 2021. Pending its release in early access on PC later this year and some closed betas in coming months, Inflexion Games has unveiled a new trailer for the game at Summer Game Fest 2022.

In addition to highlighting the pretty artistic direction of the game, the trailer focuses above all on the Realm Cards. These resources will allow players to modify the attributes of each portal, leading to new procedurally generated worlds. More concretely, this mechanic will make it possible to modify the game conditions, including monsters, environments, resources or challenges. What shape his own kingdom in short.

The trailer also recalls that the craft will be an integral part of the game and especially that Nightingale will be playable both solo and in cooperation. For the record, the title features Fae, nightmarish creatures that threaten the rest of humanity. Survivors are forced to restore magical portals in order to visit more dangerous realms as they approach their lands.
