In the DFB Cup, VfL Wolfsburg is only a spectator after the defeat in front of the sports court. The Bundesliga club therefore uses the free time to look for a coach after Mark van Bommel has been fired. According to a report, the Lower Saxony have now found what they are looking for.

Florian Kohfeldt is apparently the new coach of the Bundesliga soccer club VfL Wolfsburg. As the “Bild” reports, the Lower Saxony have agreed on a collaboration with the former Werder Bremen coach. The 39-year-old would inherit Mark van Bommel, who was dismissed by the Wolves on Sunday due to the negative sporting development.

In May of this year, Kohfeldt was released from his duties at Werder despite a contract until the summer of 2023 and would therefore be available immediately. Borussia Dortmund’s technical director Edin Terzic was also recently considered a candidate. After separating from van Bommel, Michael Frontzeck was promoted to interim coach at the Champions League participant.

The next duel of VfL is on Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky and in the live ticker at ntv.de.) in the Bundesliga at Bayer Leverkusen. In the DFB Cup, the club is no longer represented before the sports court after the mistake in the first round and the resulting defeat against Preußen Münster.
