Ex-president accused – third attempt for lawsuit about animal protection association

The ex-president (75) of the Austrian animal protection association and his son should finally appear before the judge: they are said to have used donations for private purposes. It’s about a damage of 660,000 euros.

The next animal-loving organization is on Thursday before the criminal court: The boss (75) of the Austrian animal welfare association and his son are finally to answer before a jury panel more than two and a half years after the indictment was brought – for misuse of association funds, including several donations. Indictment raised two and a half years ago It is a similar accusation as in the case of animal rescue. Both cases are already dragging on. While the lawsuit against animal rescue fell through last week due to an expert opinion, the lawsuit against the animal protection association could also fall through. The judge actually wanted to negotiate in May 2021. But the ex-president called in sick and also presented a certificate. The same on the second attempt: the 75-year-old didn’t show up at all, his defense attorney again presented a doctor’s certificate. The third attempt will follow on Thursday. The accusation: Between 2011 and 2018, the head of the animal protection association is said to have misused 660,000 euros in association funds – for overpayments and private matters. The co-accused son only relates to a small part of the indictment: it is about 82,000 euros in commissions. Both deny.
