Invited to comment on the hearings of the parliamentary committee on the attack on Capitol Hill, John Bolton, former national security adviser under the Trump administration, assured Tuesday July 12 that he himself “participated in the planning of coupsoutside of the United States.
Faced with the assertion launched by the presenter of the CNN channel, that someone did not need “to be brilliant to attempt a coup“, John Bolton retorted in a natural tone: “I do not agree. As someone who helped plan coups, not here, but you know, elsewhere, it’s a lot of work.“. John Bolton thus maintains that the assault of January 6, 2021 was not a coup attempt on the part of Donald Trump, who was not doing “than switching from one idea to another“.
Failed attempt to oust Maduro
Known for his warmongering positions in diplomacy, John Bolton, who served as national security adviser to the White House in 2018 before being sacked by the Republican president in September 2019, did not specify which coups d’etat he was talking about. But he pointed to Venezuela’s failed attempt to oust Nicolás Maduro from power in 2019 by opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who was backed by Washington.
