EXAIL TECHNOLOGIES (formerly GROUPE GORGE): Exail Technologies wins a new contract to supply advanced navigation capabilities to the US Coast Guard – 2023-05-30 at 18:00

Press release

Paris, May 30, 2023

Exail has been awarded a €2.1 million contract by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to replace obsolete gyrocompass systems on Keeper-class buoyancy vessels (175ft WLM Coastal Buoyancy Vessels). The contract includes navigation systems including Octans gyrocompasses and Netans Navigation Data Distribution Systems (NDDS).

This upgrade will provide USCG Keeper-class buoys with more accurate and reliable navigation capabilities. Based on Exail’s advanced FOG (Fiber-Optic Gyroscope) technology, the Octans gyrocompass will keep vessels safe during critical naval operations by providing extremely reliable and accurate navigation data. Complementing Octans, the Netans data distribution system will facilitate the sharing of crucial navigation information between different on-board systems. Both systems will enhance the USCG’s crew decision-making capabilities, ultimately bringing safety and reliability to their naval operations.

“We are very pleased that the Octans gyrocompass system is part of the Coast Guard’s upgrades to their buoy fleet,” said Ted Curley, manager at Exail. “Providing these gyrocompasses will be in addition to the over 100 Exail navigation systems already in service with the USCG. It is a testament to our longstanding relationship with the USCG. We are grateful to them for having once trusts the reliability and performance of our navigation solutions”.

With over 100 Octans gyrocompasses already powering the USCG, this new contract reaffirms Exail’s commitment to providing advanced and reliable navigation solutions to the USCG and other naval and maritime customers worldwide. .
