In January 2023, Florent Pagny announced that he had lung cancer. Having to undergo chemotherapy sessions, the 61-year-old singer was then forced to cancel his concert tour across France. For more than nine months, the artist, who has decided to publicize his fight against the disease, has been regularly providing news and confiding in the progress of his treatment.

In shape, Florent Pagny has therefore decided to return to the studios. On September 1, he enchanted his fans by launching his brand new album entitled “2bis”. This disc is a collection of duets where he revisits some of his greatest hits with his artist friends. Among them, we find talents such as Amel Bent, Jenifer, Slimane, Patrick Fiori, Calogero and even Pascal Obispo, all united to breathe new life into emblematic titles like “Savoir Aimer”, “Les Murs Porteurs” or even “Caruso “.

The singer’s hard work has obviously paid off as 2bis clinched the top spot in sales within its first week of release. According to information from our colleagues at Entertainment TV, no less than 31,939 copies were sold of which 90% in physical format, i.e. 28,900 albums sold in physical copies in the first week of its release. This success allowed the former coach to The Voice to dethrone rapper Ninhowho had held the top spot for eight consecutive weeks with his album “NI”!

In addition to having signed this record, Florent Pagny had published a book earlier in the year, entitled “Pagny by Florent” with Fayard editions. “With my book which came out earlier this year, it was already a lot! We had our fill of Pagny!” he quipped.

Despite this intense pace of work, the father of the family continues to visit a clinic every three weeks “to juice me up and check regularly to make sure it doesn’t come back… since it’s already come back once” he explained.
