The sequel to Dune is expected around the corner, but its state has been most worrying. But surprise, she now has good news for the spectators.
Among the most anticipated films in 2024, we undoubtedly find Dune 2. The sequel to the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s book is desired, but it has suffered numerous setbacks. In fact, the feature film was actually supposed to be released in November 2023, before being pushed back to next year. Obviously, that created concerns, but they will now be calmed. For good reason, excellent news regarding the film has just been announced.
Dune 2 reveals its new release date
The postponement of Dune 2 led its release date to be postponed to mid-March 2024. The project unfortunately had no choice, since there was a writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood. Consequently, it is impossible to advance the project, or to complete it. However, this recently ended, and we were therefore treated to a nice surprise: the film will arrive two weeks earlier than what was planned in the United States, that is to say on 1er March. In France, that means that Dune 2 will arrive on February 28.
Now, what can we expect? Regardless of quality, the feature film should be a triumphant success. Denis Villeneuve’s reputation speaks for itself, but we must not forget that the first feature film was a hit at the box office. For us, it exceeded the three million admissions mark. As for awards, he has nothing to be ashamed of, since he won 6 Oscars, including Best Visual Effects and Best Music (thanks Hans Zimmer). We hope for a similar result for this new Dune.
As for the story, know that a first synopsis was revealed at the start of production of Dune 2. Here is what we could read: “ This direct sequel to Dune will explore the legendary journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while plotting revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Having to choose between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he strives to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict “.
A concrete casting
As could be expected, almost all of the actors and actresses from the first part responded for this sequel. In the ranks, we include Timothée Chalamet for the role of Paul Atréides and Zendaya for the character of Chani. We have our two headliners, but what about the rest? We find in particular Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, as well as Charlotte Rampling and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Of course, new blood will also be added to the cast of Dune 2, such as Léa Seydoux in the role of Dame Margot or Austin Butler in that of Feyd Rautha.
