excellent news that will reassure fans

Season 2 of The Last of Us continues to bring good news. This time we learn that the project is progressing well and that everything is moving forward in a positive manner.

HBO’s The Last of Us television series, adapted from Naughty Dog’s popular video game series, returns for a second season. It is a fact. But now we have a filming date, which gives big clues about a potential release date.

Good news for The Last of Us Season 2

Thus, according to Production List, filming of this new season will begin in Vancouver in January 2024, more precisely on January 7. This start date is not surprising, given that HBO boss Casey Bloys had already announced that season 2 would begin production in early 2024. Regarding the release date of this second season, it is not expected before 2025 at the earliest, encouraging fans to wait a little longer.

The rapid success of the series The Last of Us, launched in January 2023, promptly led HBO to order a second season. However, recent strikes by writers and actors in Hollywood have delayed the process somewhat. Now that these strikes are over, creators Craig Mazine and Neil Druckmann can move forward with their plans for season 2.

An actress for Abby

According to information from theinsneider, Kaitlyn Dever is in discussions to join the cast of the second season of The Last of Us, where she could play Abby Anderson, a key character from the original game. Although we must remain cautious about this news, if it comes to fruition, Dever would join actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, already present in the series. Her character, Abby, is known for being the antagonist to Ellie, played by Ramsey. Having come close to getting the role of Ellie before, Dever is a natural choice for the character of Abby, given the similarities.

Craig Mazin, head of the series, and Neil Druckmann, creator of the game, are working hand in hand on this project. Although Mazin has not officially confirmed Dever’s involvement, her recent following on her Instagram profile seems to suggest an interest in the actress. Last August, Mazin revealed to the LA Times that he had found an actress for the role of Abby, which seems to coincide with current rumors surrounding Dever.
