Severely starved
The surprise was great when animal shelter employee Tamara Binder explained to the firefighters that they hadn’t caught a nandu but an Australian emu. “He was very starved, we served him a menu of mealworms, dandelion, grass, boiled eggs and chick feed,” says animal shelter boss Karin Binder, who was then happily contacted by owner Daniela H. (41) from Alberndorf on Thursday morning. On June 3, she had bought an adult emu with eight chicks.
