Florent Pagny has been fighting lung cancer since January. The news of this disease was a shock for the singer, his wife Azucena Caamaño and his children, his fans, but also his friends, the coaches of The Voice. The interpreter of My freedom of thought learned the news while filming the show. Singer Amel Bent returned to this moment in an interview with aufeminin.
“I will never forget this scene. He knew it, he told us and immediately he went back to the set. We walked behind him in silence, and we thought he was a warrior. We always transfer wondering how we would have reacted, if we would have gone home immediately, and stopped everything. He didn’t, he said ‘come on, the show must go on’ and it’s a real life lesson.”
Florent Pagny, the historic telecrochet coach has indeed wanted to be perfectly transparent with everyone, so as not to live his battle against cancer in the shadows. “We experienced it as a great proof of love, friendship and trust on his part. He didn’t have to take us into his confidence. Beyond the fight we knew he was going to have to fight, we all bonded. We finally learn to discover ourselves in these armchairs, we know each other but without knowing each other before that, it takes time to get to know each other, to love each other. And suddenly, there, our relationship evolved.” says Amel Bent.
