EXCLUDED. Elizabeth Hendrickson and Greg Rikaart (The Young and the Restless): “Chloe and Kevin have responsibilities as parents”

In the episodes of The Fires of Love in France, viewers find Kevin and Chloé after several years of absence. Elizabeth Hendrickson and Greg Rikaart, their interpreters, confide in Télé Star on their return and give us some memories of filming …

Télé Star: Why did you agree to replay Chloé and Kevin in The Fires of Love ?

Elizabeth Hendrickson: I knew there were some really fun new stories coming and the production wanted me to be a part of them. [comme Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), ndlr]. The Fires of Love have always been my family and I was available so I said “Yes”.

Greg Rikaart: For my part, I was very enthusiastic about the idea of working with Elizabeth again, just like with Christian LeBlanc (Michael, editor’s note), Tracey Bregman (Lauren, editor’s note) and all the Fisher-Baldwins.

How have Kevin and Chloe changed over the years?

GR : They have aged!

HE : (laughs) Yeah, and they got a little wiser. Having children together made them realize that they have great responsibilities as parents, to set a good example. They do the best they can.

Do you remember your first day in the FDA ?

GR: It was 2003. Kevin had met Lily online and they were meeting for the first time at Neon Scarlet. He was 25 and she was 15… It was a really inappropriate relationship.

HE: What a pervert! (laughs)

GR : (laughs)

HE : As for me, I remember feeling very nervous. It was a contract for a few weeks at first. Even though I was stressed, I also had a lot of fun because I got to play a character in a direction that I had never gone before. She was a bit of a naughty and prickly, with ulterior motives…

What do you like to play more: Kevin and Chloe as responsible parents or Kevin and Chloe creating problems?

GR : I think the most interesting thing is Chloe’s love for Chelsea! (laughs)

HE : (laughs)

GR : Just kidding, I always say that Chloe is in love with Chelsea… More seriously, I like to play love between them. Chloe is Kevin’s driving force in his actions. He would do anything for her.

HE : Chloe wouldn’t be where she is without Kevin…

GR : Without Chelsea rather (laughs)

HE : (laughs) Without Kevin, she would never have returned to Genoa City. They have this beautiful family, he always supports her… even if she loves Chelsea (laughs) I joke too. No matter what she did, he loves her just the way she is.

In your opinion, should there be more characters representing the LGBT community in The Fires of Love ?

GR : Sure ! There’s Mariah and Tessa but there’s still room for more diversity to reflect our world.

HE : I agree.

The Fires of Love will soon be 50, what does that mean to you?

HE : It’s an honor. What an accomplishment! Being part of such an iconic series makes me very proud. I feel very lucky.

GR : This is an incredible step. It will soon be 20 years here for me. Meeting the fans who tell us what the soap means to them is great. When someone who lives in the United States but immigrated from another country tells me that they learned to speak English by watching The Young and the Restless… Or when someone my age tells me that he started watching thanks to his mother or his grandmother… When you hear this kind of thing, you realize the impact of the series and that makes me grateful. We don’t cure diseases but when we see how we have positively influenced lives, it makes sense.

HE : Ok Greg, I have to revise my answer (laughs)
