Exclusively for Europe 1, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol spoke following the re-election of Olivier Faure at the head of the Socialist Party, validated this Sunday after a new count. According to him, the party engages in “fraudulent” practices in certain federations. For the time being, he is still contesting the result of the ballot.

He still does not digest. While a new count confirmed this Sunday the re-election of Olivier Faure as First Secretary of the Socialist Party, his opponent, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, still refuses to admit defeat. Friday evening, after the counting of the ballots, the two candidates claimed victory, thus plunging the PS into crisis. This Sunday, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol spoke exclusively on Europe 1 in Europe Evening weekend and did not hesitate to scratch the functioning of his party.

Practices “proven and encysted”

“I denounce fraudulent practices that have existed in the Socialist Party for too long,” he said. Shortcomings which do not exist “not everywhere, not systematically” within the party “but in a certain number of federations”, he asserted. “This time it happened in Liévin, in Pas-de-Calais. It happens in Bouches-du-Rhône and in other sections”.

According to him, these practices are “proven and encysted” and are “not acceptable”. A little earlier in the day, the relatives of the defeated candidate denounced, in a press release quoted by Le Figaro, a “forced passage”. At the same time, Olivier Faure was already projecting himself into his new mandate during his interview with the Sunday newspaper. “Now my responsibility is to bring us together. I have done this at every stage of the congress. First by collecting five general contributions. I will continue,” he said.
