Excluded. “He was more of a father than me…”: Patrice Laffont pays a vibrant tribute to director Edouard Molinaro, who raised his children (AUDIO)

Podcast guest parents first of Tele-Leisure, Patrice Laffont evokes a man who meant a lot to his two eldest, Fabrice and Axelle: director Edouard Molinaro, who died in 2013.

It is a moving testimony that Patrice Laffont delivers this month in our podcast parents first, an audio format in which famous dads and moms talk about their daily lives as parents. The 82-year-old presenter talks about the father he is and was with his three children when they were younger. Regarding the first two, Fabrice and Axelle, he admits having been less present than for his youngest, Mathilde. A situation due in part to his separation from his ex-wife Catherine. The latter then remarried with the famous director Edouard Molinaro, author of cinematographic masterpieces such as The Fool’s Cage and disappeared in 2013. And it was he who made sure that everything turned out for the best when the couple separated.

A “very important” man in the education of his first two children

It is thanks to my wife Catherine’s new husband, Edouard Molinaro, who was of absolute intelligence and who wanted everything to go as well as possible, explains Patrice Laffont. My wife had kept the apartment we had together in Neuilly. At first, I didn’t dare go there anymore because Edouard was often around. It’s normal, he was courting. It was Edouard himself who called me one day and told me : ‘You know, you come when you want’ (…) In some ways, Edouard was more of a father to my children who weren’t his children than me (…) He was very important to my two children. I thank him for where I am and where he is, I loved him very much…”. Touching and authentic confidences to be found in full in the links below:
