Koh-Lanta, The Cursed Totem hasn’t started yeta controversy already taints it. On Tuesday February 22, TF1 will draw the new season of its adventure game in which 24 candidates – 12 men and 12 women – will discover the rough life, hunger, fatigue and strategies in the idyllic setting of the archipelago of Palawan in the Philippines. Among the participants, viewers will the acquaintance of François, a 38-year-old firefighter, who has been in this business for 17 years. “Altruism, rigor, and team solidarity are its values. Accustomed to being the strong man who supports his family, as in the barracks, François is a pillar“, describes the production. Except that on February 9, the Chained Duck revealed that this man at the “good heart“- according to the production – is indicted for manslaughter.
“Justice the [François et six autres collègues, ndlr] suspected of having given the troop inappropriate, sometimes contradictory orders, and provided insufficient training and obsolete equipment“, explained our colleagues. A drama that made one dead and three seriously injuredlike Lucas who gave a poignant testimony and expressed his anger at seeing François play the heroes in Denis Brogniart’s show. This indictment, François concealed it from the production, taking advantage of the secrecy of the instruction. In the columns of your magazine TV Star – on newsstands this Monday, February 21 -, François’ lawyer, Maître Ludovic Para, takes his defense, recalling that the legal proceedings against him are “normal procedure“, since the investigation is still ongoing.
Despite his indictment, François “has a clear conscience”
Nevertheless, he wishes to affirm:François Descamps is responsible for training. He was not on the scene during the intervention, gave no orders that day and had not trained the team in question“. And to conclude: “He has a clear conscience and think of course of the victims“. These are the same arguments that Denis Brogniart had put forward. One week before the start of this season of Koh Lanta, its emblematic host spoke about this case. “The first thing I would like to say is that in all cases, and this is important, there is a presumption of innocence and in this case, I also ask that it be respected“, he said, before sending his thoughts to the family of the victim and to the injured.
