Passionate journalist, for more than 10 years, I have been carrying out investigations, portraits, reports or interviews.

“It annoys me!” In an exclusive interview given to “Purepeople”, Bernard Montiel denounces the abusive use of his name to rent his old house in Pyla-sur-Mer, even though he sold it three years ago. The host, irritated by this practice, also returns to the precious memories he has of this second home where he welcomed many personalities.

If Bernard Montiel was born in Morocco, it is in the Bordeaux region where he grew up and he started working. Logically, this is where the famous TV host returned every summer to the pied-à-terre he had given himself around thirty years ago in Pyla-sur-Mer, not far from Arcachon. A vacation home with a swimming pool where he used to receive his friends. But 3 years ago, the TPMP columnist decided to change scenery to breathe the Mediterranean by becoming the owner of a house in Saint-Tropez. But during this time, some continue to think that his old second home on the Atlantic is still his because it is rented and presented as “the house of Bernard Montiel”. “Embarrassing”, believes this close friend of the Macron couple in theexclusive interview which he has just granted to Purepeople in which he explains to us why he left the Bordeaux region while definitively putting things clear !

Purepeople: You sold your house in Pyla-sur-Mer 3 years ago, a property in which you spent a lot of time. What did it look like and why did you decide to part with it?

Bernard Montiel : Yes, it was a house near the famous La Corniche establishment, in Pyla-sur-Mer, where I lived for 30 years. It was an old house from the 50s that I had completely renovated. It was a lot of work, but I really wanted it. The house had a lot of charm, but despite the renovations, it remained an old house with its thick walls that could not be moved. I had broken a wall in my room to install a modern bathroom, but the other rooms, although renovated, had retained a bit old-fashioned style. It was a house full of memories, but at a certain point, I wanted modernity, light, more open spaces. This is what pushed me to move to Saint-Tropez.

It seems that your name is still used to rent this house, even though it no longer belongs to you. What does that inspire you?

Exactly, and it is something that annoys me. I sold this house several years ago, but some people still rent it claiming it’s still mine. It happened several times to me to meet people in the street who told me that they had a wonderful stay with me. Once, Julien Lepers told me that his daughter had loved her stay in my house in Pyla. I told him that I wasn’t renting this house, that I had sold it a while ago. It bothers me that my name is still being used to attract tenants. It’s not my house anymore, I have nothing to do with it, and it’s embarrassing.

Bernard Montiel: “Alain Delon and Mireille Darc came to my house

What memories did you keep in this house?

I had a wonderful time in this house. Friends and personalities like Alain Delon and Mireille Darc came to stay there. Dinners and convivial evenings were often organized there. It was truly a place for meetings and relaxation. I loved having friends there, it was a good place to live. I recently told you how it had also been the scene of the incredible meeting, which I somewhat provoked, between my friend Marie-Anne Chazel and Philippe, the new man in her life. I remember the moments spent enjoying the Atlantic, this wild side of the ocean, it’s something that I no longer have today in Saint-Tropez. The Mediterranean is beautiful, but I bathed a lot more in the Atlantic. There is a special energy there.

Do you still go back to this region?

Yes, I go back from time to time. Besides, I’m going to go there soon for a charity evening at the La Corniche restaurant. I still have a strong attachment to this region from which I come. Maybe one day I’ll go back to live there, who knows? I don’t close any doors. Even if I love my current life in Saint-Tropez, I always keep the Atlantic in my heart.
