Interviewed by Closer on the occasion of the release of the film L’immensità, Penélope Cruz explained why she could stop her acting career.
Actress Penélope Cruz confided in the journalists of Closer while she is in full promotion of the theatrical release of her latest film, The immensity, directed by Emanuele Crialese. And if her profession as an actress fills her and allows her to continue to share her talent with the general public, this does not mean that Penélope Cruz never considered stopping everything overnight. During the interview and while the question is posed to her as to whether she has ever really thought of putting an end to her career as an actress, Penélope Cruz answers very frankly and directly.
“Every day! There isn’t a day when the idea of ending my acting career doesn’t cross my mind.” she explained. But this would not necessarily be synonymous with a farewell to the world of cinema, on the contrary… “It’s more with a view to staying in the industry, since it would be to find myself behind the camera and become a director.“. After having taken on many roles in now cult films, Penélope Cruz would see herself on the other side of the camera. An interesting perspective that would allow her to stay in a familiar field while applying the knowledge she has been able to accumulate during all these years alongside many great directors.
Penélope Cruz: “I have always been very interested in languages”
Because Penélope Cruz likes to be stimulated and discover new things through contact with new peopleand that’s one of the reasons why she considers herself so lucky to have been able to “study French before English” and to now be quadrilingual. “I’ve always been very interested in languages, but also in different accents. I don’t know if it became a source of pride, but learning foreign languages has certainly become a passion!
