After retiring from the air in 2018, Frédéric Lopez will make his big comeback on Sunday afternoon on France 2. An unexpected return for the host, yet reluctant to return to service so soon.
Frederic Lopez back to business soon. At 55, the former flagship animator of Meeting in unknown land will offer a new magazine in mid-October Sunday in the countryside. A program that will be broadcast instead of Can’t wait for Sundayand in which it will bring together personalities from different worlds to debate, chat and laugh in a house, far from everything.
However, nothing predestined Frédéric Lopez to return to the air so quickly, as he confided in an interview granted in our columns, and to be found on newsstands this Monday, July 18. “I was very much at home in the Cévennes far from any media agitation, without an interview even though I am very talkative, and I had no intention of showing my face on TV at all”he explained.

But one person managed to convince the host to sign his big comeback. “Anne Holmes (director of programs at France Télévisions, editor’s note) turned my brain. She first came to see me, we chatted, it was very nice but I repeated to her, from the start, that it was not worth her insisting”he first said, before finally accepting the proposal: “She came back to the charge. She spoke to me about my values and by evoking something intergenerational, a value that obsesses me, she touched my heart. A Sunday in the countryside, it will be sincerity, humanity, authenticity, inclusion … I offered to do one out of two, she told me that it would be refused . I spoke about it to my team, faithful since my beginnings. They ‘mont said they were able to manage to shoot twice two hours of programs in 48 hours. I said bank.
