After discussing her greatest successes, her career, her close relationship with her sister Violaine, Nikos Aliagas asked her if she was “a happy woman”. With a pause, Véronique Sanson responded with her legendary modesty.
“I’m in no man’s land. A neutral ground, outside of time. For example, during trench warfare, there was always a no-man’s land where no one was allowed to enter.”she confided. A space that allows Véronique Sanson to preserve herself. However, that doesn’t stop him from experiencing ups and downs. “I am not unhappy and I am not very happy either”, she revealed to Nikos Aliagas. And to conclude: “I’m up, even if sometimes I struggle!” A strength of character and a rage for life of which only Véronique Sanson has the secret.

Véronique Sanson: the stage, her haven of peace
On April 24, Véronique Sanson will celebrate her seventy-fifth birthday on the stage of the Grand Rex in Paris. Although she is used to the stage, the singer always experiences a little stage fright when performing her greatest hits. “What do you want Nikos, I always doubt myself, I feel a real lack of confidence, I’m afraid of not being up to standard, of doing badly, of forgetting the words”, she said. And to add: “(…) before setting foot on the stage, I’m shaking so much, you can’t imagine the state I’m in. And it all disappears at once.”
Indeed, once in front of her loyal fans, Stephen Stills’ ex-wife forgets her anxieties and “pain” of certain injuries. “The scene is always a miracle”, she assured the presenter of Star Academy. Before continuing: “I am so happy to sing in front of an audience who did me the honor of coming for me… It’s so rewarding.” For Véronique Sanson, the stage is indeed a comforting refuge. “It’s the only place where I don’t have pain”she confided.
