EXCLUSIVE: 5 institutes predict German economy to grow by 0.3% in 2023

BERLIN, April 4 (Reuters) – Five economic institutes forecast German gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 0.3% in 2023, up from the 0.4% contraction anticipated in the fall, said two sources familiar with the studies at Reuters.

For 2024, the five institutes, four German and one Austrian, forecast GDP growth of 1.5%, against 1.9% previously.

They expect an inflation rate of 6.0% in 2023, which would slow to 2.4% in 2024. (Report Maria Martinez, written by Friederike Heine; French version Diana Mandiá, edited by Kate Entringer)
