Huawei has launched the FreeBuds Pro 4, aiming to redefine the standard for active noise cancellation (ANC) and additional features in the premium headphone market. After conducting our tests, we can confidently state that the latest Pro model from Huawei outperforms Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 in terms of ANC capabilities.
However, the FreeBuds Pro 4 aren’t just a fantastic option for those seeking exceptional noise cancellation. These headphones also boast a variety of other features that make them a worthy competitor to Apple’s offerings, all while being approximately 60 euros less expensive for those who register with Huawei and shop through the Huawei Store.
By signing up with Huawei, you can claim a 30-euro discount voucher that is exclusively applicable to the FreeBuds Pro 4. This brings the launch price down to just 169 euros. In contrast, other online retailers are charging around 199 euros, with the sole exception being the Saturn eBay store, which lists the headphones for 192 euros when using the voucher code POWEREBAY7E.
Additionally, purchasing from the Huawei Store comes with a complimentary warranty extension, extending coverage to 3 years. According to their website, this promotional offer is valid until January 31, 2025.

As part of our evaluation of the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4, we conducted a quick comparison with the Apple AirPods Pro focusing on ANC performance. Huawei asserts a notable 30 percent enhancement over the previous FreeBuds Pro 3 model.
In the bustling environment of Washington Airport’s departure hall, we assessed the ANC capabilities of the FreeBuds Pro 4 against the Apple AirPods Pro. While the AirPods allowed a significant amount of ambient noise to filter through, the FreeBuds effectively blocked out nearly all disruptive sounds.
We were also pleasantly surprised by another feature, Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). In essence, ENC functions similarly to ANC, but instead of muting background noise while listening, it filters out surrounding sounds—except for your voice—during phone conversations, ensuring that your conversation partner hears you clearly.
This means that whether you’re on a phone call or in a meeting, your voice remains crystal clear even in very noisy settings, as background sounds are effectively minimized.
While it’s yet to be verified whether this performance aligns with the demonstrations shown in videos on Huawei’s website, we found the sound quality of the headphones to be impressive across various media, including music, lossless audiobooks, and podcasts. Huawei claims a battery life of 7 hours without ANC and 5 hours with ANC—decent, yet not remarkable.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 are an excellent choice for anyone seeking high-quality in-ear headphones that offer a competitive edge over Apple’s offerings, especially if you frequently find yourself in loud environments. They are particularly well-suited for making phone calls.
