Expansion to Italy – KTM takes over the majority of MV Agusta

KTM has acquired a majority stake in the Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta Motor SpA, based in Varese, northern Italy. The Pierer Mobility subsidiary had already acquired 25.1 percent of MV Agusta in autumn 2022, and an option to acquire a further 25 percent has now been exercised early.

This means that KTM now holds a majority stake in the Italian company earlier than expected. It was announced in autumn 2023 that the step would take place at the beginning of 2026. KTM had already taken over the supply chain and purchasing from MV Agusta last year, and some of the product range will also be sold via Pierer’s sales network. KTM is now taking over complete industrial management and is planning to expand the site. In the medium term, the plan is to produce more than 10,000 MV Agusta motorcycles annually at the Varese site, according to the company. Pierer remained tight-lipped about the purchase price for the additional 25 percent. This was “calculated in accordance with the previously agreed valuation method (EBITDA multiple)”. Hubert Trunkenpolz, board member of Pierer Mobility, will take over the role of CEO of MV Agusta.
