The second-quarter delivery record shows that Tesla’s year-to-date efforts to boost demand through rebates have been successful. However, as in the first quarter, production exceeded deliveries. However, at 13,560 vehicles, inventory build-up in the second quarter was smaller than in the first three months of the current month, when overproduction was at more than 18,000 vehicles.

Next is India?

Tesla boss Elon Musk recently declared that he wanted to invest in India as the next sales market “as soon as possible”. “I am confident that Tesla will be in India, and as soon as possible,” Musk said after meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York during Modi’s government visit to the United States. He is a “fan” of Modi. “I would like to thank the Prime Minister for his support and I hope we can announce something in the not too distant future.”

Musk had stressed in May that Tesla is expected to select the next location for a new factory later this year and that India is an interesting place for a new plant. To date, Tesla has four production facilities. Two are located in California and Texas and therefore in the USA. Tesla operates its largest plant in Shanghai, China.
