With the iPhone 14, Apple has turned the price screw. Germans have to dig much deeper into their pockets for the new generation of cult cell phones. Compared to other countries, however, we still get off lightly, as an impressive comparison now shows. You can feel sorry for the Nigerians.

Expensive is relative: what a nice evening in a restaurant is for a high-income couple, is the weekly shop for a Hartz IV family. Such differences in financial power exist not only between people, but also between countries. An interesting comparison with the iPhone 14 now shows how high some of them are.

The question behind it: What percentage of average annual income do you have to spend to be able to afford Apple’s new iPhone 14? The people in Nigeria were hit the hardest: If you want to buy an iPhone 14 in the African country, you have to spend around 69 percent of your annual income (source: Comparedial). The situation is similarly bleak in Kenya (63 percent) and Bangladesh (59 percent).

Not surprising: people in developing and emerging countries must generally on dig deep into your pocketto afford an iPhone 14.

At the other end of the comparison are correspondingly highly developed industrial nations. Luxembourgers must with 1.61 percent spend the least of their annual income on an iPhone 14. It is followed by Switzerland (1.67 percent) and the USA (1.84).

and Germany? We lie with 2.84 percent also still in the green range of the comparison – price increase or not.
