Experimentation on the risks of transmission of Covid-19 in nightclubs postponed for lack of volunteers

The two unprecedented test evenings scheduled for Saturday, June 26 in Paris on the risks of transmission of Covid in nightclubs among vaccinated people have been postponed ” at a later date “, for lack of volunteers in sufficient number, announced the organizers.

The latter, who hoped to recruit 4,400 Ile-de-France residents aged 18 to 49 and fully vaccinated, explained in a press release than “The number of volunteers [n’était finalement] not sufficient to allow the study to bring conclusive results, in the current epidemic context ”.

Called “Come back at night” and managed by the research agency ANRS / Emerging infectious diseases with Public Assistance – Hospitals of Paris, the experiment was to take place from 11 p.m. on Saturday to 6 a.m. on Sunday, in two rooms, the Cabaret sauvage (19e arrondissement of Paris) and La Machine du Moulin Rouge (18e borough).

No impact on the measures announced

“The scientific, logistical and artistic teams remain mobilized and united on this project for an experiment which will take place at a later date, when all the conditions necessary for its realization will be favorable and more conducive to the time of research”, the statement continued.

The aim of the experiment was to assess “The transmission of SARS-CoV-2 during events clubbing indoors, at full gauge, in vaccinated people ”, detailed, before the postponement took place, the project coordinator, Dr Jérémy Zeggagh.

According to the government’s deconfinement plan, nightclubs must reopen on July 9, with a tonnage of 75% of the public (vaccinated or who may present a negative test) and wearing the recommended mask. The study was not supposed to have an impact on these measures already announced, but the organizers hoped that its results, which they promised by the end of July, could allow the said measures to be adapted at the end of the summer.

The evenings were to be hosted by renowned DJs: veteran Laurent Garnier, Etienne De Crécy, Pedro Winter, Kiddy Smile, Chloé, Bambounou, Mad Rey, Roni, or even Rag.
