Johnson draws a positive Brexit conclusion
Twelve months after the UK left the EU, Prime Minister Johnson draws a positive conclusion. On the anniversary of Brexit, the Torie particularly praised his country’s newly designed migration policy. However, experts are far less optimistic about the kingdom’s defection.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has celebrated the anniversary of the Brexit treaty with the EU as a success for his country and his government. “Our task since then has been to enhance the benefits of Brexit so that we can be successful as a modern, dynamic and independent country,” said Johnson in a statement late Friday evening.
Great Britain left the EU at the end of January 2020 and left the EU customs union and the internal market on January 1, 2021. Many British experts and politicians believe that this move has so far harmed the UK.
Instead of freedom of movement with unhindered immigration, a migration system is in place that attracts the brightest minds, Johnson said. Ambitious trade agreements have been concluded with many countries. “We have ensured the fastest vaccination campaign in all of Europe by avoiding the cumbersome EU processes,” said Johnson. After all, Great Britain abolished the EU’s “insanely complex” wine and beer taxes and reintroduced traditions such as the Crown Stamp as the standard for pint glasses. “We are dismantling EU rules and bureaucracy and are bringing common sense back into our set of rules.”
Johnson stressed that the work was not over yet. “In the new year, my administration will move further and faster to deliver on the Brexit pledge and harness the tremendous potential that our new freedoms bring,” said Johnson. Critics, on the other hand, accuse the conservative government of relying only on symbolic gestures.
Because of stricter entry rules, numerous industries are complaining about a lack of skilled workers. However, so far there have been no applications for a visa program for scientific award winners from all over the world. Only one commercial contract was signed from scratch. According to experts, the contract with Australia is weakening British farmers.
