Experts enthusiastic – golden autumn ensured a noble wine vintage

Fifth excellent vintage in a row
“We had the best weather conditions. Healthy grapes grew due to the drought, and the little rain provided the necessary ripeness,” reports Stefan Potzinger, the chairman of Wein Steiermark. The cool spring meant that the vines blossomed later, but perfectly. “And high temperatures and sufficient humidity in June almost caused growth in the vineyards to explode in June. Those were the ‘ingredients’ for the fifth top vintage in a row,” says the South Styrian winemaker, who expects wines that are particularly storable.
