Exactly one week ago, dark clouds of smoke rose near the popular beaches of the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea and Russian tourists left the holiday destination in panic. The Saki Air Force Base had been rocked by three detonations. On Tuesday morning there was another explosion in Crimea, which has been occupied by Russia since 2014: an open-air ammunition depot in the village of Maiskoye in the province of Jankoye exploded. Videos on social media show sustained detonations, fire and thick smoke.
