Russia fires several rockets at Ukraine

Ukraine calls it “energy terror”: At the beginning of the week, Moscow again aimed at the critical infrastructure and launched several rocket attacks. Explosions are heard in Kyiv and other regions. The electricity goes out. People are called to get to safety.

At the beginning of the new week, Russia again fired rockets at numerous cities in Ukraine. There was an air alert in large parts of the country, and the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense system was active, according to the authorities there. Explosions were also heard in the capital Kyiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said two rockets had landed in his city. They would have aimed at setting up the critical infrastructure.

The Ukrainian authorities called on people to get to safety bunkers and other rooms. There were reports of power outages. In Kyiv, the electricity and water supply is said to be interrupted in some areas, the Nexta medium reported, citing Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Presidential adviser Anton Gerashchenko tweeted that Russia had fired a total of 40 cruise missiles.

The Russian war of aggression against the neighboring country has already lasted 250 days this Monday. According to the first official information, the Russian troops – as on previous Mondays – launched dozens of rocket attacks in the morning rush hour. There were always deaths and injuries. Nothing is known about new victims this morning.

Russia had declared that it was particularly targeting the neighboring country’s energy infrastructure. Ukraine speaks of “energy terror” with the aim of plunging people into darkness, cold and fear and thus driving them to flee to the EU.

Russia is continuing its attacks on civilian infrastructure, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, said on Telegram. “We will persevere. And this disgrace will cost entire generations of Russians dearly,” he announced. At the same time, he called for more weapons and new sanctions against Russia from the West.
