Explosive suspicion – young firefighter (19) is said to be a fire devil

A young woman from Mühlviertel had already been given a second chance by the judiciary after a riot three years ago. But that probably didn’t clear her up, because the woman is again the main suspect in a new series of fires. The 19-year-old is said to have put out the fires herself.

“For the comrades of the affected fire department, the news that the suspect could be one of them is of course very bad. We support our comrades wherever we can” – the Upper Austrian state fire brigade command has often had to deal with black sheep in its own ranks, so they know what to do. Eyewitnesses also saw them nearby in the case of the series of fires in Feldkirchen and Goldwörth: The 19-year-old main suspect is a firefighter. As public prosecutor Reinhard Huemer-Steiner confirmed, the suspect had, among other things, been seen in the vicinity of fires. And she was always present when the fire was extinguished and reported a fire herself – two piles of wood and two barns were burning. “She denies everything,” said the judiciary, which is now hoping for solid evidence through cell phone analysis and examination of the young woman’s confiscated clothing. Exclusion after a conviction “In such cases, the fire brigade law specifies exactly what happens. During criminal proceedings, a suspension is imposed; if there is a conviction, expulsion from the fire department follows,” explains Markus Voglhuber from the Upper Austrian State Fire Brigade Command. Nothing has been initiated at the moment because there is only suspicion and no official criminal proceedings. Getting away with diversion The suspected firefighter, who is presumed innocent, was given a second chance after – as reported – three years ago took responsibility for a series of fires in Feldkirchen and got away with diversion and thus without a criminal record. “The fire department is a place where people who are in difficult personal situations can find support and a meaningful activity,” Florianijünger also explain social task of the fire department, which has almost 96,000 members in Upper Austria. “You can’t look into anyone.” While the investigation is still ongoing, a fire alarm went off at the Lacken fire station (Feldkirchen/Donau municipality) on Wednesday night – this time it was a false alarm.
