Explosive transport – Federal prosecutor files charges against 51-year-old Dutchman – News

  • The Office of the Federal Prosecutor (BA) has filed charges against a 51-year-old Dutchman who was picked up with two kilograms of explosives at the Thayngen SH border crossing in early November 2021.
  • There is no evidence of a terrorist-motivated act.
  • The goal was apparently an ATM.

The BA accuses the man of producing, hiding and continuing to create explosives and toxic gases, as she announced. Other charges include violations of the Explosives Act and the Road Traffic Act.

The man wanted to enter Switzerland from Germany on November 3, 2021 at the border crossing in Thayngen SH. The customs office stopped him and checked him. In addition to other suspicious objects, the officers found four packages with a total of around two kilograms of explosives. The border officials immediately arrested the Dutchman. Since then he has been in custody.

Explosives for ATM demolition

According to the indictment, the accused wanted to hand over the explosives to an unknown person in Switzerland together with the other items seized in the car.

The man knew that the packages were in a bag in the vehicle he was driving. At least he assumed that it was explosives.

He is also said to have known that the explosives should have been used for further crimes. According to the BA, there is a concrete suspicion that the items that were being carried should have been used to blow up an ATM.
