DDR5 never stops breaking records, but this time, it’s about a kit of bars that can be found at retailers.

Month after month, DDR5 RAM kits are moving away from the first specifications announced by manufacturers. Last September, G.Skill was promoting DDR5-6800 modules… which today seem almost ridiculous!

Not less than 8000 MHz

Indeed, G.Skill has just announced the release of a new Trident Z5 RGB kit, its most powerful models. Simply called DDR5-8000, the kit in question is obviously designed to reach very high frequencies.

In its press release, the brand specifies however that its kit was designed ” for use with the latest Intel Core 13 processorse generation and be compatible with Z790 chipset-based motherboards “. She also points out that this new kit is above all designed for overclocking enthusiasts. She even insists that she’s pushing the bar even higher by talking about ” higher level “.

Timings in CL38 “only”

It should however be noted that, as always, DDR kits capable of going very high in frequencies must be satisfied with much more modest timings. The Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-8000 are no exception to the rule. G.Skill thus advances the figures of CL38-48-48-128, while it also markets DDR5-6000 in CL30 and DDR5-6400 in CL32. Finally, it is interesting to note that G.Skill does not mention AMD or EXPO support at all, preferring to focus on Intel’s XMP 3.0.

The manufacturer ends by mentioning availability in December 2022. The kit is already listed with the French retailer LDLC… at the somewhat dissuasive price of 750 euros for the 32 GB version (2×16 GB)!
