Extremely short loading time: Realme, Oppo and Honor present innovations
Forgot to connect the smartphone to the charging cable in the evening or place it on the charging station – and the next day is already a challenge. For many people, the mobile phone is an integral part of everyday life, so a weak battery is annoying. Hours of charging on the cable or on the charging station cause frustration. Fast charging techniques are a welcome relief. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC, February 28 to March 3, 2022) in Barcelona (Spain), three manufacturers, Realme, Oppo and Honor, are now presenting new approaches for even faster charging.

Complete List: The Best Android Phones
Realme: From zero to 50 in 5 minutes
Realme is already one of those companies that always include large power supplies with plenty of power. The Realme GT, for example, managed a loading time of only 36 minutes! But that was probably not enough for the Chinese manufacturer: With the Realme GT Neo 3, he announces an even shorter charging time. According to Realme, the smartphone charges from zero to 50 percent within 5 minutes – this is possible thanks to the 150-watt power supply. Realme called the technology behind it “Ultra Dart Charge” and thus continued the previous naming with Dart or Super Dart Charge. To protect the battery from overheating, the manufacturer uses its own algorithm – the temperature thus remains below 43 degrees Celsius.
Oppo: Full in 9 minutes
Oppo even goes one step further with its concept: it will soon be possible to charge a smartphone from zero to 100 percent in just 9 minutes. It is not certain with which device this technology will land on the market. So far, the 240-watt charger is just a vision. Nevertheless, it turns out that manufacturers are increasingly relying on extremely fast loading times in order to win over buyers.
Honor Magic 4 Pro: Already super fast
Honor was the only manufacturer to present a smartphone with new charging technology directly at the MWC. According to the company, the Magic 4 Pro can be fully charged in just 30 minutes. This is made possible by the 100 watt charging technology via the charging cable. However, another detail is really special: Honor also promises 100 watts wirelessly – within 15 minutes the battery is 50 percent charged. Honor does not say how hot the smartphone gets in view of this strong charge.
