BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) – ExxonMobil is considering bids for its oil and gas assets in Argentina’s Vaca Muerta shale gas reserve, a source familiar with the matter said on Friday, adding that they may not succeed.

These comments follow the publication by Bloomberg of information according to which the oil major would study the possibility of selling $1 billion (924.21 million euros) of assets to Vaca Muerta.

“The process started in August, it continues to move forward and offers are being evaluated,” said the source, who requested anonymity due to the confidentiality of the discussions. ExxonMobil received offers earlier this month, she added.

“They presented binding offers at the beginning of February. There is no deadline or deadline to give a response on the continuation of the operation. The offers are being evaluated by the shareholders” , said the source.
