The open war between two Montpellier families caused an unexpected shooting in the parking lot of a clinic in 2016, thus avenging a death dating back more than 30 years…
The facts took place in 2016 but the story actually goes back much further than that, and it could not be concluded until 2023 as reported by 20 minutes. Ahmed Bakiri is preparing to appear before the Hérault Assize Court after having shot dead Mohammed Benameur in the parking lot of a clinic. But he did not choose his victim by chance. In fact, if Ahmed Bakiri opened fire on this man, it was because he was responsible for his brother’s death, Kader. Years earlier, a fight had broken out between Kader Bakiri and Mohammed Benameur, and the latter had hit Kader so hard that he was killed. Following this, Mohammed Benameur was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Once out, Mohammed Benameur left the region but returned in 2016 to see his sick father at the clinic. Clinic in which there was also another brother of Ahmed Bakiri who, seeing the man who had killed his brother Kader, immediately sought revenge. As Mohammed stood with his brother in the clinic parking lot, Ahmed Bakiri therefore took out his gun and shot him several times.. This cold-blooded murder, unpremeditated according to experts working on the investigation, concluded a clearly old family history. In fact thehe brother of Ahmed Bakiri had already shot Mohammed Benameurwhich could explain why the latter wanted revenge during a fight.
The culprit faces 30 years in prison.
Years after the shooting in which Mohammed Benameur was killed, Ahmed Bakiri is therefore preparing to be tried for this act of revenge. The 51-year-old man, manager of a nightclub, was examined by expert psychiatrists and psychologists who determined that at the time of the facts, he was “in a state of shock and bewilderment” with “an alteration of any control of one’s actions and gestures which may be a transient acute psychotic state“. A state which, according to the order of indictment that our colleagues from the 20 minutes were able to consult, “seems incompatible with premeditation” according to the investigating judge. Ahmed Bakiri would therefore be well fell, by chance and several decades later, on the man responsible for the death of his brother and would have directly seized the opportunity for revenge. He faces 30 years in prison.
