Eyelashes fall out: causes and treatment

Eyelashes fail: possible causes

There are a number of reasons why you may lose eyelashes. The most common causes are:

  • Beauty flaw: If there are faults in the beauty routine, this is often noticeable on eyelashes that break off. For other causes, the eyelashes fall out directly.
  • Vitamin or nutrient deficiency: A one-sided diet and, for example, the lack of iron, magnesium and vitamins can affect eyelash growth.

  • Medication: Certain medications influence body hair growth and can lead to hair loss, as is the case with chemotherapy, for example.

Eyelashes break off? This way you can avoid beauty mistakes

  • Use your eyelash curler properly! Use the eyelash curler before you apply your eyelashes. Faded eyelashes are covered with mascara and therefore not as flexible anymore – eyelash curlers can easily break or even tear out the eyelashes if they stick to the pliers. Therefore: First the eyelash curler and then go to the ink! Also pay attention to eyelash curlers with rubber pads, this is gentler on your eyelashes!
  • Use waterproof mascara only occasionally! Waterproof mascara is simply practical – whether for sports or sunbathing, the mascara holds in place. But this also becomes a problem when removing make-up … We have to clean our eyelashes much more intensively until we get rid of the waterproof mascara. When rubbing, the eyelashes are mechanically stressed – if this happens daily, a few more eyelashes can quickly break or fall out. Therefore, you should not use waterproof mascara every day.
  • Put on gentle make-up removal! Always clean your eye area without much friction and with gentle cleaning agents. Use a cotton pad with make-up cleaner, let it act briefly on the eyelashes and then gently wipe off the mascara and make-up. If you forget the make-up removal in the evening or if you rub too much, the hairs can break easily.
  • Hygiene is essential! Poor hygiene can cause infections in the eye. Therefore, always wash your hands thoroughly before using contact lenses, for example. Your make-up utensils should also be cleaned regularly.

Eyelashes: treatment

If the eyelash loss is not due to beauty defects and lasts longer, one can examination at the doctor make sense. He can examine the eye and eyelid ring for infections and diseases, and determine whether an allergy or a lack of vitamins and nutrients are to blame for the loss of eyelashes. Appropriate treatment is initiated after diagnosis:
