F1 22: modified tracks in Spain, Australia and Abu Dhabi, detailed changes in videos

The world of Formula One is in constant evolution, the pilots must this year discover very different single-seaters, which will obviously be present in F1 22. But on the side of the circuits, there is also change and Codemasters announces some changes to several tracks in its future racing game.

To best reflect reality, the developers therefore modified the circuits of Spain, Australia and Abu Dhabi, which should increase the chances of overtaking competitors during races. Here are the changes in detail:

Spain :

Turn 10 sees a new layout matching that introduced in reality for the postponed 2021 race. Turns 10-14 have updated off-road areas, as well as several sausage curbs around the circuit.

Australia :

The Albert Park circuit was reshaped using LIDAR data, with more detailed height and camber. The walls of the exterior areas have been repositioned and the curbs replaced with new photogrammetric versions. Many changes have been made to the circuit with a new layout of turns 1, 3, 6, 8/9 (replacing the chicane), 11, 12 and 13.

Abu Dhabi :

Yas Marina Turn 5, where Verstappen passed Hamilton to secure first place in the 2021 Formula One World Championship™, has been changed with the removal of the chicane before the hairpin. The hairpin was also moved forward, adding more runoff. The chicane at turn 9 and the 90 degree turns are now one and the same camber, replacing turns 11-14. Finally, turns 13-15 have been rounded around the hotel to allow cars to follow more closely.

All this shouldn’t upset the virtual pilots, but it at least shows that Codemasters wants to offer the most faithful game possible. The release date of F1 22 is as a reminder set for July 1, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, with a Champions Edition digital offering additional cosmetic content and three days of early access. You can pre-order this version at €79.99 on Amazon.
