Scuderia AlphaTauri, the F1 team of Frenchman Pierre Gasly, unveiled its AT03 on Monday, not without a few references to science fiction and video games.
It is a presentation, let’s say, curious, that the F1 team AlphaTauri has delivered to the whole world. From Faenza, a city in Emilia-Romagna where it is based, the Italian team unveiled its brand new single-seater, called “AT03”, by broadcasting a short video of less than three minutes, tinged with references that make it very original, to failure to offer guarantees on its future performance.

Little sister of the Red Bull team, which unveiled its single-seater last week, AlphaTauri marked the occasion by revealing its new model to fans and the press. During these few minutes, one would even have thought to attend the trailer of a new spin-off of Stargate SG-1the famous series created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner.
The extras of the presentation but also and especially the AT03 and the pilots Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda all cross the “Gate of the Stars” AlphaTauri way, which even took the trouble to recreate the nine chevrons of the famous transport ring and its famous vortex, dear to that good old colonel turned general O’Neill.
The references or winks are numerous during this short presentation. The first seconds of the video remind us of the good memories of Daft Punk, who announced the end of their duo a few months ago. The two French and Japanese pilots, but also their overalls, helmet and size difference, similar to those of the musicians Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, give us a hint.
We also find in this presentation references to games Assassin’s Creed and more particularly to the presentation video of the dematerialized virtual reality console Helix, which can be found in Assassin’s Creed Unitywhose model is used to create the characters for the presentation clip of the blue and white single-seater.
2022, the start of a new era for F1
Alpha Tauri (6and of the 2021 constructors’ championship), a team powered by Honda and led by its leader Pierre Gasly (three podiums and one victory over the last three seasons), wanted to give its presentation a futuristic taste, without giving the floor to its drivers or without entering in the aerodynamic details of the single-seater, which hopes to do even better in 2022 than in 2021. Futuristic, certainly, but sober it is true.
Some orientations of the vehicle, made necessary by the new regulations, are already visible, although it is still too early to imagine the definitive version of the AT03, which will not officially roll for the first time until next week during the Barcelona tests, February 23-25. The first Grand Prix of the season will take place in Bahrain in just over a month, on Sunday March 20.
