Fabian Hambüchen's single existence is over: he already met his new love in September 2020, as he has now revealed.
Even after his active artistic gymnastics career, sport is an important part of his everyday life for Olympic champion Fabian Hambüchen (33). And so it is not surprising that the 33-year-old got to know and love his new girlfriend, Viktoria, during CrossFit training in September of last year. The two have been a couple since November 2020. Hambüchen has now revealed in an interview with the magazine "Bunte".
Love at first sight and a google search
Right from the first conversations with Viktoria, he had the feeling that they had "known each other for ages," said Hambüchen. "In a short time a strong trust and a deep connection has grown" and the first encounter was "magical" – the famous love at first sight. With Viktoria, who is also a sports enthusiast, he "feels like I can really be myself. She makes me very happy and that is incredibly good."
Viktoria also had a say in an interview with the magazine and admits that she hadn't known anything about the impressive career of her new boyfriend in advance: "To be completely honest: I had to google him first." She describes her relationship with the former gymnast, who became an Olympic champion on the horizontal bar in 2016, as "almost too good to be true."
Love at eye level
Hambüchen does not worry that his new girlfriend is about eight centimeters taller than him, on the contrary. "As far as our relationship, our conversations and hobbies are concerned, we are on an equal footing. Otherwise, I like to look up to her," says the athlete with humor. Incidentally, another of his qualities that Viktoria loves about him. He manages to make her laugh "in any situation."
But the two had to go through a not at all cheerful phase. In the show "Catch!" Recorded in December 2020 Hambüchen had come up unhappy and had torn his cruciate ligament. For Hambüchen's manager Klaus Kärcher, this was the couple's first test, and they mastered it brilliantly: "When I saw Viktoria supporting Fabian during the operation and in rehab, it was clear to me that it would now be okay," says Kärcher in the magazine. "Unfortunately, it didn't work out in the end" it had previously with girlfriend Nina. In the summer of 2019, Hambüchen announced the separation after a little over a year to the "Bild".
