Fabien Roussel (PCF) receives the 2022 prize for political humor

Former communist presidential candidate Fabien Roussel, noted for his banter during the campaign, was awarded the 2022 “Press club, humor and politics” prize on Tuesday for a joke about fuel prices. “The gas station is the only place in France where the one who holds the gun is also the one who is robbed,” said the deputy from the North on TF1 on March 14, seducing the jury chaired by journalist Olivier de Lagarde ( franceinfo).

The jury prize is awarded to former President Nicolas Sarkozy, who declared to Le Point, about Valérie Pécresse’s candidacy for the presidency: “It’s not because you buy paint, a canvas and brushes that you become Picasso. Valérie Pécresse, she took my ideas, my program and she made 4.8%”. Fabien Roussel succeeds Macronist Minister Marlène Schiappa on the list of winners of this prize for the phrase deemed the funniest, voluntarily or involuntarily.

Among the other award-winning phrases on Tuesday:

– former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe about Jean-Luc Mélenchon for, “It takes a certain audacity for someone who was beaten in an election where he was a candidate to think that he will be elected in an election where he is not a candidate!”;

– the former President of the National Assembly Richard Ferrand for, “Elisabeth Borne is great but nobody knows it”;

– the former Renaissance deputy Thierry Solère for, “My anatomy means that if my ass is between two chairs, I am perfectly seated”;

– the deputy LFI Eric Coquerel for, “To imagine that we are going to replace Jean-Luc Mélenchon like that, it is a view of the mind. It is like asking the question of who will replace Jaurès”;

– EELV deputy Sandrine Rousseau for, “I would like there to be a possibility of a crime of non-sharing of domestic tasks”, “The homeless die more heat in summer than in winter” and “We must also change of mentality so that eating a steak cooked on a barbecue is no longer a symbol of virility”;

– the PS mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo for, “Every morning, I get up thinking that everyone loves me”;
