Fable: The studio does not want to show images until the game is completely ready

If you too are waiting Fable IV (which we will call like that by default) since its announcement two years ago, continue to be patient. The game has obviously not yet entered its final development phase, and the studio Playground Games continues to recruit artists to expand the team. Interviewed at PAX 2022 about the silence surrounding the game, Matt Booty, who heads Xbox Game Studios, clarified why the game is being so low-key.

No announcement until the studio feels it

He first returned to the choice of studio, which may have surprised. We know Playground Games for its work on the series of Forza Horizonwhich requires completely different skills compared to those required for the development of an RPG like Fable. But for Booty, the studio understood perfectly what it had to do :

Let’s be honest, giving Fable to the racing team might be a bit of a headache, but they’ve proven they’ve got the idea, and I can’t wait for the time to show off more. »

But precisely, when are we going to see the game again? Booty explains that he wanted to show the title on several occasions, but the studio was against this idea :

Every time I see something, I say “We should show this”…because there’s a lot of cool stuff. The team has made it clear that I can’t show anything until it’s ready. »

We imagine that the whole thing is a bit fictionalized (after all, Booty is indeed the boss, the one who makes the decision), but we may be reassured to see that a development team still has a say when It’s about not showing a game too early.
